What is Honey

Honeybees produce honey as a storable carbohydrate source, from the nectar of flowers. Honey is a complex product comprising of more than 180 different substances, and is produced by the honeybee. It is a mix of mainly simple sugars, water, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, organic acids and phenolic compounds and other plant compounds. It is this complex mix of nutrients that gives honey its special, health-giving properties, and differentiates it from sugar.
